I recently watched a couple of documentaries about the conquest of the Aztecs by AOC's ancestor, Hernán Cortés.
A seemingly stable power was, as it turns out, lethally vulnerable. It had an Achilles heel.

It will be another example of the British distributing smallpox blankets to the non-favoured minorities of the day.
Diversity is not a strength when mixed with politics, especially when state paternalism is accepted as a fundamental principle. When politicians start picking winners and losers, the entire nation becomes nothing more that a dysfunctional family, bickering over parental favours.

And as markets go, this sets up a market where the most valuable commodity available for trade, albeit, politically skewed trade, hinges upon how little a person contributes to the welfare of other people, how well they can fake their misfortunes, or upon the colour of their skin.
If this bullshit continues, we will be at each other's throats for the next thousand years.
Last spring, when the first two-week lockdown came into effect to "flatten the curve," I had yet to form a strong opinion on the Coronavirus story. I had even done some "prepping" in February in case the WuFlu would turn out to be another round of Spanish Flu type sickness.
I imagined people, of all ages, dropping like flies, events being cancelled due to widespread illness, businesses closing their doors because too many of their employees had taken sick or died, supply chain disruptions for the same reason, and masses of people hunkering down in their homes out of fear.
But then, when I noticed how the media had latched on to the issue with its characteristic spin and exaggeration, I started to smell a rat.
As it turned out, events WERE cancelled, business WERE shut down, and masses of people WERE confined to their homes, but not because of WuFlu. It was because of panicked government edicts.
The book caught my eye mainly because of the chapters on Passive Smoking and Global Warming; issues I had been focusing on for some time already. I got more than I bargained for. I highly recommend it.

So, in a sense, I was already "prepped" for COVID-19.
So when I started seeing the body counts being screamed across the Junk News headlines, and noticed the ages of the people who were dying it was like a lightbulb turned on in my head.
"It's the fucking flu!" I thought, which isn't to say I thought it was an actual flu virus, but that statistically it looked a whole lot like a severe seasonal flu.
I started to do some digging.
One of the first sceptics I stumbled across on fuckYouTube, along with people like Woodard and Bahkdi, was the financial writer, Karl Denninger, a real numbers guy, when he noted that the data didn't fit the models.
Which isn't to say that he is the final word on this phenomenon, but he sure gave me some ideas about how to do my own analysis.
For example, early on, he was arguing that the disease was not being spread through the air but by fomites. And he provided very good reasons for saying that, but the jury is still out on that one in my mind.
Even so, I think it's worth the time to read some of this guy's stuff.
I have never had much interest in local issues. If I had never driven a taxi in Hamilton, I would probably not have had any insight into just what a bunch of clueless fools most of the people elected to sit on the city council are.
Without the insights I acquired as a cab driver, I might have assumed that these councilors, and their staff members, knew what they were talking about when I heard them commenting on issues that I had zero knowledge of nor engagement with. However, given that this group of geniuses have their hands around the balls of every member of the cab business, I had strong reasons to attend several council meetings when critical issues relevent to my business were being discussed.
What I saw on vivid display was their utter ignorance of the business they were supposedly "regulating." What they thought they knew about the cab business was pure fantasy, much of which was probably derived from watching old ganster movies containing the line, "Follow that car!" That and their complete buy-in to the popular falacy that cab drivers always try to increase the fares by going "the long way around," which is utter horseshit.
I mean, if you live in, or are familiar with Hamilton, get this... as part of their brilliant mandatory taxi school idea, one of the components of the "course" was "tourism."
Fucking tourism? In my 40 year span in the business, do you how many "tourists" I had in my cab?
ZERO.
Unless you count that German wrestler who got me to drive him from the Sheraton Hotel to that strip club on Plains Rd. in Burlington.
Garbage in. Garbage out.
Those of us trying to eke out a living had to endure unnecessary, and endless suffering as a result of the crud that spewed forth from these prodigies.
Well, finally, these pocket rocket scientists have given us something that we can all see for the vacuous lunacy that permeates their "thinking."
Some people might be a little bit surprised that what they are seeing in this video documentary is something that is taking place in Canada.
Many more, won't even be impacted by it, one way or the other. They don't care. "If you stand for nothing, you fall for anything."
It's all about "saving lives," they will stupidly regurgitate.
Again, "If you stand for nothing, you fall for anything."
I am not surprised that this is what is going on in Canada.
I saw it coming years ago. Almost fifty years ago.
I remember back in, oh, 1982 or so, some fucking bozo came walking by my house and noticed one of my bumper stickers. It said, "Legalize Freedom."
He started laughing and engaged me in conversation. He asked me, "What is that all about? Don't you realize we live in a free country already?"
Fuck me. To think that I have been forced to listen to this moronic opinion for decades.
Who, today, could make such an outrageous declaration?

What we are seeing happen in Canada today didn't just start with COVID-19. It's been a slow and gradual process of slow rot as the dominant philosophy of this country crept from one of individualism to one of collectivism. (A.K.A. - communism. A.K.A. - wear a fucking obedience mask, and comply with all of the edicts that go along with it. Want your freedom back? Get a fucking vaccination.)
When collectivists say, "We are all in this together," they mean it.

What I have found astonishing, in my experience, over the last year, is the almost universal lack of real curiosity about COVID-19 on the part of the public. I have seen it in the comments on social media and in the personal interactions I have had.
The most tense "debates" I have had has been with people who are completely uninformed about the issue. For example, I had a debate on Facebook early last year with a highly intelligent Ontario schoolteacher who, nevertheless, attacked my opinion by alleging that I did not care about schoolchildren dying horrible deaths from infection. I already knew at the time that schoolchildren are barely at risk from COVID-19 and that, in fact, more die from the seasonal flu. A year later I find myself completely vindicated, notwithstanding efforts to keep the fear going by the constant seeding of "third wave" and "variant" stories with reports (but no numbers) of more severe infections among younger people.
Liar.
107 deaths have occurred in the age group most likely to have "little school aged children" since the beginning of the panic.
I put the word "debates" in the previous paragraph in quotes because, in my experience, the most tense exchanges I have had has been with individuals who merely regurgitate Junk News talking points and if you dare question or rebut their claims, they resort to insults and other forms of attempted psychological intimidation. In other words, the greater their ignorance, the greater their certitude. They are nothing more than modern day Bible-thumpers.
It disappoints me that, in view of the enormous damage to our economy, the enormous collateral damage that has been done, and the stunning suppression of longstanding human rights, that so few people seem to be willing to ask, or consider, the question... "Has this all been worth it?"

Knut Wittkowski makes a very interesting point here. He is not the only one who has suggested that the lockdowns, by prolonging the presense of the virus and inhibiting the achievment of herd immunity, may have given the virus more time to mutate. If true, it will stand as another example of the tendency of government "solutions" to problems to make those problems much, much worse. And that is WITHOUT taking into account the enormous collateral damage caused by the religious belief that politicians can cure sickness, control the climate, and part the seas by simply hammering down on their citizens.

I went to the anti-lockdown rally in Simcoe on Saturday, April 10, 2021. There was a pretty good crowd.
I didn't see a single mask and everyone was practising "old style" social distancing instead of the now common anthrophobic distancing.
On my way home I stopped at two different stores to pick up some essentials, as currently defined by Ford's government. First I went to buy some smokes, and I went to the liquor store for some beer. What a let-down after the fresh air in Simcoe. BOTH of the cashiers were hysterical anthrophobes with BOTH of them insisting I stand behind the plastic fear barrier.
I am so sick of this BS.
I might go to another protest next week in St. Kitts or Niagara. Being around sane people is the kind of shot in the arm that I am really into.

The photo below reminds me of two things from the past.
One was before the popular revolution in Ontario against mandatory store closures on Sundays. Some would rope off areas of their stores in order to be allowed to be open at all.
The other was when I crossed thru Checkpoint Charlie into East Berlin back in 1972.
We only went over for a few hours. While there, we got hungry, so we started looking for a restaurant. I recall seeing several restaurants that looked almost modern by the standards I was familiar with. There was just one problem. All of them were roped off. They were there, but the public were forbidden from using them.
As a last resort, we found a basement cafeteria in some museum. The menu and the food reminded me of the old cafeteria in my high school. Not much selection. Not much flavour.
Half a century later, and my own country has turned into East Germany.
The truly dangerous pathogen we are being confronted with is not a variant of the cold virus.
It is a pandemic scale mind virus.

When questioned by the health inspector at the door about cold symptoms, to which I replied, "I have none but I do have Ebola and Leprosy." There was some laughter. I grabbed a basket and entered the store.
Even though I knew this was coming under Commandant Ford's new, and ultimately futile effort to continue pretending he has any control of the Coronavirus, it was still shocked at seeing it.
I announced in a loud voice that this has gone far enough and the time to end it is NOW, before we lose all of our freedom, and that I was going to film this monstrosity.
The health inspector told me that filming was prohibited. Not wishing to forego the privilege of buying the bacon, which is on sale for $1.97 (limit 4) I put my phone back in my pocket.
But I was furious now. A few minutes later I decided, fuck it, and I snapped this photo.
